Luján de Cuyo · Private tour · From USD 140
The historic home of Argentine Malbec, 30 to 45 minutes from Mendoza city. A private half or full day through century-old vineyards, the first D.O.C. in the Americas and two or three wineries chosen for you — not a fixed circuit.
Why Luján de Cuyo still matters
Luján de Cuyo is where Argentine Malbec was taken seriously first. It sits between roughly 800 and 1,100 metres, on stony alluvial soils, and in 1989 it became the first D.O.C. in the Americas — a regulated origin with real rules, not a marketing badge. What that means in the glass is Malbec with more flesh and roundness than the high-altitude Uco style, from vines that in some cases were planted before 1930.
It is also the practical choice. Because the wineries are 30 to 45 minutes from the city, this is the region that works when you have half a day, when you have just landed, or when you want a proper lunch without two hours of driving afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Luján de Cuyo from Mendoza city?
About 20 to 30 kilometres, so 30 to 45 minutes by car depending on the winery. It is the closest serious wine region to the city, which is why it works as a half day.
Luján de Cuyo or Uco Valley?
Luján is older, closer and the historic home of Malbec. The Uco Valley is higher, newer and more dramatic, but needs a full day of driving. With two days, do both; with half a day, Luján.
Can I do it as a half-day tour?
Yes. Two wineries with tastings fit comfortably into a morning or an afternoon, with or without lunch.
Do the wineries require a reservation?
Almost all of them, and the good restaurants always. We book everything for you before the day.
Is lunch included?
On the full-day version, yes: a paired lunch at a winery. On the half day it is optional, and we will tell you honestly which tables are worth it.
