Why Luján de Cuyo still matters<\/h2>\n

Luján de Cuyo is where Argentine Malbec was taken seriously first. It sits between roughly 800 and 1,100 metres, on stony alluvial soils, and in 1989 it became the first D.O.C. in the Americas — a regulated origin with real rules, not a marketing badge. What that means in the glass is Malbec with more flesh and roundness than the high-altitude Uco style, from vines that in some cases were planted before 1930.<\/p>\n

It is also the practical choice. Because the wineries are 30 to 45 minutes from the city, this is the region that works when you have half a day, when you have just landed, or when you want a proper lunch without two hours of driving afterwards.<\/p>\n
