Vines are older, wines are rounder and riper, and the drive is short — ideal for a first day, or a half day if you land at midday.

The Uco Valley climbs from 1,000 to over 1,500 m against the Andes. The same grape gives you firmer tannins, higher acidity and a completely different aromatic profile. The drive is longer, so plan a full day. If you only have one day and want the postcard view of the mountains, go to the Uco Valley.

Trying to combine both in a single day is the most common mistake we see. One of them with lunch. Arrival times booked in advance, and enough space between them that nobody is checking a watch. That structure is not a limitation — it is what turns a tasting into an actual understanding of Malbec and Argentine red wines.

We also work with organic and biodynamic producers for visitors who want that focus specifically.

Frequently asked questions

How many wineries are there in Mendoza?

Mendoza has more than 1,200 registered wineries, and roughly 150 are open to visitors. The practical question is not how many exist but which ones suit the way you want to spend the day. We work with a curated group of around 30 wineries and visit 3 per day at most.

Which wineries in Mendoza should I visit first?

If it is your first time, combine one classic Luján de Cuyo house (Lagarde or Achával-Ferrer) with one high-altitude Uco Valley estate (Andeluna or Atamisque). That contrast — 900 m versus 1,300 m — teaches you more about Mendoza in one day than five tastings in the same district.

Do I need a reservation to visit wineries in Mendoza?

Yes. Almost every winery in Mendoza requires a booking, and the best ones fill up 2–4 weeks ahead in high season (October to April). Walk-ins are rarely accepted.

Can I drive myself between wineries in Mendoza?

You can, but tastings plus lunch with wine make driving a bad idea, and Argentina enforces a zero-tolerance alcohol limit in Mendoza province. Most visitors use a private driver or a guided tour.

How far apart are the wineries?

Luján de Cuyo is 30–45 minutes from Mendoza city. The Uco Valley is 1h20 to 1h45. Mixing both regions in a single day means a lot of driving — we recommend one region per day.

Which Mendoza wineries have restaurants?

Among the wineries we visit, Lagarde, Atamisque, La Azul, Giménez Riili, Huentala and Andeluna serve full lunches. Booking the table at the same time as the tasting is essential.

Plan the route with us

If you would rather not assemble this yourself, that is what we do.
